Invitation

Recent European Commission surveys on citizens’ knowledge and attitudes toward science and technology highlight a growing concern: disinformation is increasingly shaping public opinion and weakening trust in knowledge, expertise, and education. A particularly striking example is Russian disinformation surrounding the war in Ukraine, which not only influences political discourse but also challenges educators and cultural institutions in their efforts to promote critical thinking and media literacy.

Against this backdrop, we warmly invite teachers, educators, staff of cultural institutions, researchers, and journalists to our workshop “Countering Disinformation”. The event will explore the impact of disinformation on educational practice and cultural projects, with a focus on history education, the cultivation of critical thinking in the classroom, and strategies for addressing false narratives in today’s so-called post-truth era.

Participants will engage with experts from the fields of history, culture, journalism, and open-source intelligence, and will leave with practical tools for their professional contexts. A certificate of participation will be awarded.
