Das 14. Klaus Zernack Colloquium steht unter dem Thema "Museen, Sammlungen und Kunstmarkt - erweiterte Perspektiven". Es beschäftigt sich mit der Geschichte von Sammlungen und Museen sowie deren Wechselwirkungen in einem breit gefassten soziokulturellen Kontext. Prozesse des Sammelns und Forschungen zur Museologie werden in das interdisziplinäre Feld der Kunstgeschichte, Geschichte des Wissens, des Geschmacks und der Kennerschaft eingeordnet. Sie eröffnen eine breite Perspektive für kultur- und ideengeschichtliche Überlegungen unter Berücksichtigung politischer und sozioökonomischer Rahmenbedingungen und berühren oft auch Aspekte der Kulturanthropologie oder Psychologie.
Die Themen der Seminare werden sich auf die folgenden Schwerpunkte konzentrieren:
- Kompensation und Emanzipation: Sammlungstätigkeit sozialer Minderheiten und ausgegrenzter Gruppen.
- Individuum und Kollektiv: Rolle des Sammelns und der Museen im Prozess der Gestaltung, individueller, nationaler, regionaler und lokaler Identitäten.
- Zentrum und Peripherie: Museumspolitik und das Zusammenwirken verschiedener Orte wie Berlin, Posen, Danzig, Königsberg, Beynuhnen.
- Individuum und Institution: Einfluss von Kultur- und Kunstmäzenen auf die Bildung privater und institutionalisierter Sammlungen.
- Vergangenheit und Gegenwart: Bedeutung von Sammlungen für das Heute anhand einer Diagnose der momentanen Lage ukrainischer Museen und der Frage nach der Erhaltung des kulturellen Erbes in der Kriegszone.
Wir werden diese Fragen aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln beleuchten, wobei wir uns auf zeitgenössische kritische Überlegungen zum Erbe der Museen des 19. Jahrhunderts und auf klassische Instrumente wie den Postkolonialismus, aber auch auf eine posthumanistische Perspektive stützen werden.

The theme of the 14th Klaus Zernack Colloquium is "Museums, Collections and Art Market: Enhanced Perspectives". The seminars in this series deal with the history of collections and museums and their interaction in a broad socio-cultural context. Processes of collecting and reasearch on museology will be placed in the interdisciplinary field of art history, history of knowledge, taste and connoisseurship. They open up a broad perspective for considerations of the history of culture and ideas, taking into account political and socio-economic frameworks and often touching on aspects of cultural anthropology or psychology.
The topics of the seminars will focus on the following main areas:
- Compensation and emancipation: collecting activities of social minorities and excluded groups.
- Individual and collective: the role of collecting and museums in the process of shaping individual, national, regional and local identites.
- Centre and periphery: museum politics and the interaction of different places such us Berlin, Posen/Poznań, Danzig/Gdańsk, Königsberg, Beynuhnen.
- Individual and institution: the influence of cultural and art patrons on the formation of private and institutionalized collections.
- Past and present: the significance of collections for today through a diagnosis of the current situation of Ukrainian museums and the question of preserving cultural heritage in the war zone.
We will examine these questions from different angles, drawing on contemporary critical reflections on the heritage of 19th-century museums and using classical tools such as postcolonialism, but also a post-humanist perspective.
