Nicht zuletzt warf auch die belastende Vergangenheit immer wieder ihren Schatten auf das bilaterale Verhältnis."

Angela Merkel i Donald Tusk jeszcze do niedawna byli symbolami pewnej epoki partnerstwa niemiecko-polskiego. Ale czy to partnerstwo przetrwa, gdy przyjrzymy mu się zza kulis? Na ile udana była współpraca Polski i Niemiec w ramach Unii Europejskiej i Sojuszu Północnoatlantyckiego? Jakie wnioski możemy z niej wyciągnąć w kontekście wyzwań naszej teraźniejszości i przyszłości?
Opracowanie autorstwa Markusa Hildebranda podejmuje próbę odpowiedzi na te pytania i tym samym wystawia ocenę stosunkom niemiecko-polskim w polityce zagranicznej i bezpieczeństwa w latach 2007–2015. Wrażenie partnerstwa zostaje poddane w wątpliwość. Mimo że kontakty dwustronne były bliższe niż kiedykolwiek wcześniej, obie strony nie wyszły w nich poza zwykły dialog o tym, aby działać razem. Wreszcie ciężar przeszłości wielokrotnie rzucał cień na stosunki dwustronne.

How successful was the cooperation between Germany and Poland within the European Union and the NATO? What conclusions can we draw from it in the context of the challenges of our present and future?
This study by Markus Hildebrand attempts to answer these questions and thus gives an assessment of German-Polish relations in foreign and security policy between 2007 and 2015. The impression of partnership is called into question. Although bilateral contacts were closer than ever before, both sides did not go beyond a simple dialogue about working together. Finally, the burden of the past has repeatedly cast a shadow over bilateral relations.
