Ukraine: Threats to Cultural Heritage in Wartimes – Not Only the Khanenko Museum Example

With an introduction into the history of the Khanenkos as collectors and their strategy for the cultural development in Kyiv, unique historical photographs of the Khanenkos’ private gallery and the early museum as well as a presentation of important developments and losses in the Soviet and the post-Soviet eras.
Olena Balun: “Ukraine Art Aid Center - Measures Taken, Perspectives and Challanges”
With an explanation of the working methods of the Ukrainian Art Aid Center, illustrated by several examples, and a depiction of the problems caused by the war and of current actions.
Afterwards, a panel discussion and questions from the audience will be moderated by Beate Störtkuhl.
Olena Balun, art historian and independent curator, chairwoman of the Kunstverein Rosenheim, is member of the steering team and translator of the network UKRAINE ART AID CENTER.
Beate Störtkuhl, art historian, is scientific coordinator at the Federal Institute for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe as well as associate professor lecturer at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg.
